Press Release

Designed for test labs where versatility and accuracy of transducer conditioning are
important, Precision Filters, Inc. announces the latest addition to the 28000 Signal
Conditioner System. The 28104A Quad-Channel Resistive Bridge Conditioner
provides four channels of high-density conditioning for strain gages and other
non-self-generating transducers requiring a Wheatstone Bridge. Each channel offers
conditioning for 1, 2 and 4 arm strain gage bridge applications. Up to 64 channels may
reside in a single 7-inch rack mountable chassis or combine this card with other
28000
signal conditioning cards to meet applications with a variety of sensors. Available bridge
completion resistors include 120W , 350W ,
1kW or user specified values. Programmable 4 or 8 pole
low-pass filters operate in either "flat" or "pulse" mode. Select from a wide range of cutoff frequency settings -
Up to 204.6 kHz "filter" bandwidth or 700 kHz "wideband" bandwidth. The card provides constant voltage excitation for the bridge and the
bridge is automatically balanced at your command using a ratiometric insertion derived
from the excitation supply to insure stable operation. The 4096 step bipolar shunt
calibration allows you to check linearity and span.
A Graphical User Interface (GUI) furnishes control panels for configuration, set up,
operation and tests. A grouping of algorithms assist to compute proper gain,
gain distribution and filter cutoff frequency for best performance and system scaling of
each measurement channel. Also managed from the GUI are optional built-in self-tests and
fault diagnostics, the same tests performed at the Precision factory, to assure end-to-end
system performance and eliminate off-site calibration.
